Bavarian Autosport, also known as BavAuto®, has been in the BMW parts business since 1974 – MINI parts since 2002. Our company began life as a BMW service shop, maintaining, repairing and modifying 2002s, Coupes and Bavarias. At the same time, we started to build an inventory of parts that BMW enthusiasts in the northeast could purchase to do their own maintenance, repairs and modifications.

In the beginning was the 2002…
Bavarian Autosport, also known as BavAuto®, has been in the BMW parts business since 1974 – MINI parts since 2002. Our company began life as a BMW service shop, maintaining, repairing and modifying 2002s, Coupes and Bavarias. At the same time, we started to build an inventory of parts that BMW enthusiasts in the northeast could purchase to do their own maintenance, repairs and modifications.
 
… then a catalog company was born.
In the late 1970s we began to advertise our BMW products nationwide. The response was surprisingly strong, so in 1983 we produced our first catalog (on a Smith-Corona typewriter on Mark and Donna’s kitchen table). A couple years later we added some black and white photography to the catalog (using pictures taken, again, on Mark and Donna’s kitchen table). Color photos soon followed, as did accessories and tuning parts; the catalog grew from a handful of pages to more than 100. We launched our first web site – BavAuto.com – in 1996, converting it to an online store in 2001. We mailed the inaugural issue of Fast Times, our quarterly newsletter, in 2003. And in 2009 we launched blog.BavAuto.com – a searchable knowledge base of more than 1,000 tech Q&A and DIY videos – which was quickly followed by our YouTube channel and Facebook page.

The main reason we decided to go into the parts business in the first place was to provide the kind of customer service we found lacking in other companies. Today, BavAuto® is the leading BMW and MINI parts and accessories mail-order and internet retailer in the world. Our three-story distribution center in tax-free New Hampshire contains more than 400,000 factory original and aftermarket BMW and MINI parts and accessories. Many of our aftermarket parts are manufactured by the same factories BMW and MINI use. In some cases we have sourced parts superior to those produced by BMW and MINI. In many applications we are able to offer a range of parts at a variety of price points so you can choose what’s best for your car and your budget.
 
Combining gratitude and enthusiasm with charity.
Since the early 1990’s, we have hosted an annual customer appreciation day called Show & Shine. What started as a handful of local customers bringing their cars to our parking lot for a couple hours of meet-and-greet, has turned into one of the largest, one-day BMW and MINI gatherings in North America. Every fall, hundreds of BMWs and MINIs from as far away as Chicago, Florida and New Brunswick make the trip to our headquarters in Portsmouth to meet fellow enthusiasts, see some beautiful cars, watch DIY demonstrations, enjoy a free BBQ lunch and, since 2005, help us raise tens of thousands of dollars for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Throughout its more than 40-year history, Bavarian Autosport has been owned by the same three friends who started wrenching those 2002s back in 1974. (They’re still business partners and still close friends!) Most of our employees have been with the company for more than 10 years – many for more than 20 years!
